Somebody will demo a “yet to be named fly”. This “yet to be named fly” is very effective within the Rotorua fishery. Somebody will demo this fly and everybody will know somebody but nobody will know that somebody until the demo night.

John McCarron will demo a wee midge emerger pattern.
Midge emerger patterns imitate the transitional stage between the midge pupa and adult midge.
Midge emergers are a relatively new category of fishing flies. Midges at certain times of the year are so abundant that they become an important trout food and as a result these very effective flies have been developed.
These flies can be used on both rivers and lakes, and also tailwaters where midges can be abundant.

John has had a lot of fun fooling fish on Aniwhenua with these little imatations!

ROTORUA TROUT FISHING GUIDE
The Rotorua Anglers Association produced the first Rotorua Trout Fishing Guide in 1965, and has since published six new updated editions.

The 7th edition, published this year, is considerably updated and enhanced, containing 96 pages of up to date information on the fishable lakes and waterways in the Rotorua and surrounding areas. Greatly enhanced with colour photographs and detailed maps, the information includes where and how to fish the various waterways, covering fly fishing and the various boat fishing methods, as well as tips on techniques, selection of equipment, knots, flies, and much more.
As well, a brief history of the Rotorua lakes fishery is covered, and information on the history and activities of the Rotorua Anglers Association and Eastern region Fish & Game.
This publication is intended as a guide to the many hundreds of trout fishing venues available in the Rotorua and Bay of Plenty area. It is mainly for the inexperienced angler or visitor to the area, but the “expert” is also likely to find something of value among these pages.
